We are excited honor Tom, Kayte, and Alicia Pisculli as our Family of the Month. The Piscullis embody the spirit of service, faith, and love, making a positive impact wherever they go. Tom, a Brother Knight and inside guard for our council, is not only an active participant in our council but is also deeply involved in both That Man Is You and Inferno, programs that encourage spiritual growth, fellowship, and personal development among men in our parish. His commitment to these programs reflects his passion for helping others deepen their relationship with God and strengthen their faith. Kayte and Alicia are both actively involved in the Social Outreach Ministry, working to support those in need within our community. Their dedication to helping others, especially the vulnerable, is truly inspiring. Beyond this, Kayte plays an important role in the religious formation of our youth as a volunteer with the Confirmation classes and Religious Education program, helping to guide the next generation of Catholics in their journey of faith.
Alicia, in addition to her work with Social Outreach, serves in the Video Ministry, ensuring that our Masses and other parish events are shared with the broader community. Her technical skills and dedication to this ministry have been invaluable, especially in making our services accessible to those who cannot attend in person. Both Kayte and Alicia volunteer at Wild Blue Cats, a local organization that provides care and shelter for cats in need. Their love and compassion for all of God’s creatures extend beyond the parish, demonstrating their commitment to service in all aspects of life. Together, the Pisculli family has shown an extraordinary level of dedication to their faith and community. Their involvement in numerous ministries and organizations is a testament to their generous hearts and deep faith.
This month’s Knight of the Month award goes to someone who has been very active in the council as I’m sure many of you can attest. He is our Worthy Recorder Paul Ceciliani. Paul has been mentioned in other months for this award, but he has managed to get others nominated instead. Paul has been very important to the council in the last several months. It seems like when there is a job to do Paul is willing step in and take responsibility. Paul has taken on many tasks for our council including: recording our council meetings; maintaining the Knight’s memorial pavers; leading a barbecue team in support of the church; helping other barbecue and cooking teams; helping clean and inventory the shed; and leading the Knight’s of Columbus Soccer challenge at the picnic. Brother Paul has tremendous organizational skills and he is willing to apply them for the benefit of our council and the parish.
August 2024 Knight and Family of the Month
Family of the Month: Terry and Dick Schubert
Terry, as Vice President of the Ladies Auxiliary, has been a guiding force in our parish, offering her time, talents, and leadership to countless events. Her tireless efforts have supported numerous charitable activities, and her passion for serving others shines brightly. Terry has also worked closely with Dick in organizing our highly successful Peaches and Pears fundraiser, a significant undertaking that brought the entire community together. Their teamwork and dedication helped us distribute 191 boxes, resulting in a council profit of $1,638. This fundraiser helps our council to support important charitable causes.
Dick, as the Lecturer for our council, has been an invaluable source of spiritual insight, sharing reflections that inspire and challenge us to live out our faith more fully. His leadership in organizing the Peaches and Pears fundraiser was instrumental in its success. He also cooked at the Parish Picnic, which provided the fellowship of meal to the parishioners.
Additionally, Sir Knight Dick Schubert leads the “How Can You Walk in Hope” series, offering our parishioners meaningful reflections on living with hope in challenging times. His service as a Proclaimer during Mass further exemplifies his commitment to sharing the Word of God with our community.
Together, Dick and Terry are a true example of what it means to live a life of faith and service. Their dedication to our council, parish, and community is both humbling and inspiring. It is with great gratitude that we honor them today.
Knight of the Month: Javier Popoca
Brother Javier Popoca served faithfully by his outstanding support of church activities and Knights of Columbus for the month of August 2024. He was a tremendous help with the BBQ for the church picnic in support of over 400 parishioners. After serving 3 hrs with the BBQ, he then helped another four hours with organizing and leading the Knights sponsored soccer challenge; a huge success. His dedication was evident in helping distribute hundreds of boxes of peaches and pears to our church community, one of the largest fundraisers during the year for the Council. His outgoing personality and positive demeanor made all the events he was part of an uplifting time for all.
Brother Javier, on behalf of the council, I thank you greatly for all that you do.
Silver Rose at Our Lady of the Pines
A Knights of Columbus Silver Rose was presented at Our Lady of the Pines at the 8:30AM Mass on Tuesday, July 9th, 8:30 AM. Following mass the Rosary was prayed. Silver Rose Pilgrimages share the message of Our Lady of Guadalupe and promote respect for life by participating in this meaningful pilgrimage. The Silver Rose program demonstrates the unity between Knights of Columbus in Canada, the United States and Mexico, through a series of prayer services promoting the dignity of all human life and honoring Our Lady.
Each year, from early March through mid-December, Silver Roses are stewarded by Knights of Columbus councils along routes from Canada to Mexico. Every stop the Silver Rose makes throughout the pilgrimage is a rosary-centered occasion for Knights, parishioners and community members to pray for respect for life, for the spiritual renewal of each nation, and for the advancement of the message of Our Lady of Guadalupe. The tour culminates with a special mass where all eight Silver Roses come together in Mexico on December 12th at the Basilica in Monterrey with a procession, prayers and Blessings through Our Lady of Guadalupe.
